The Mission

THE MILITARY

The French Mission to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva has a military position at its disposal, consisting of:

  • a chief officer, defence attaché, serving the ambassador as military adviser.

  • a secretary

The military adviser, Lieutenant Colonel Jean-Christophe Le Roux, is the representative of the Defence Ministry in Geneva and the ambassador’s military advisor for all defence-related matters, particularly for nuclear questions.

The French Defence Ministry is thus represented on Swiss territory by two chief officers:

  • the Defence attaché at the Swiss Confederacy in Bern, representing the Defence Ministry at the Swiss military authorities.

  • the military advisor in Geneva, primarily tasked with issues concerning non-proliferation and disarmament, representing in this domain the French Defence Ministry at Geneva-based international organisations and political and military foundations.
